It’s Who You Know
Finding another position seemed like a huge challenge. I sent out resumes, followed up with phone calls and did everything I could do to get my name out where it might pay off. Who knew that the ticket to another job was sitting right beside me in the church choir. A fellow baritone, a principal in the local public system, mentioned that he had an open position at his school and invited me to apply.
Without getting into all the details related to interviews, reference checks and a mountain of paperwork, let’s just say that in September I was in a new school earning more than double the wages and, to be honest, working with less effort and more resources than I ever had before. My reset rekindled my enthusiasm for teaching.
